As you guys know,
I love the Union County bison. These painted creatures are very majestic and I plan to celebrate them as long as Union County will let me.
Last night at the great bison debate, the painted bison were assembled outside for the first time and we got to see what all the municipalities came up with!
Here’s a peek at some of them –
Hartley township came up with an intricate creation:
Mifflinburg has a nice landscape representing their town well:
Union Township went simple, but elegant. A very nice touch:
Here’s the photo grallery where all of them can be found. Which is your favorite?

Yesterday, the Valley was in the national news, but not for a good reason.
A Greyhound bus crashed on Interstate 80, killing one and injuring more than 40 others. Numerous national outlets picked up on the story.
Here’s some of the coverage:
It was a hectic day yesterday trying to follow this story as it developed and we’ll be following it again today.

Last night at a supervisors’ meeting, I got a sneak peek at the White Deer Township buffalo, all did up for the Union County contest.
And let me tell you, it’s a beauty:
It was the first time I saw a completed buffalo, not the blank, grey canvas.
And it’s going to be hard to beat, IMO.
Looks like I’m going to be hunting some buffalo. Send me any of your sightings.
UPDATE! 9:30 a.m.
I have received another buffalo picture! This one’s from the Union County government center – and it’s also beautiful!
Keep on the lookout people!
The video made by a Lewisburg resident showing the voting machine malfunction in Union County got national media attention: the malfunction was listed as part of CNN.com’s list of voting snags.
Here’s the CNN article.
The mix-up also made Mother Jones’ list of voting snafus,
which you can see here.
Heres my problem with their coverage of this: I wouldn’t say that it was voter suppression or some form of hacking as Mother Jones seems to suggest, it seems like a voting machine malfunction at its purest form.
Apparently, the membranes of many machines were malfunctioning and needed to be recalibrated.
It happened in Perry County as CNN says
and in York County as well.
It seems like this was a technical issue that could have been putting votes for any candidate, it just happened to be calibrated to go from Obama to Romney.
What do you think?
