on this blog my fascination with the fog that continues to creep up here, especially at this time of year.
And apparently I’m not the only one that feels that way.
Carol Lamparter of Selinsgrove sent in a couple of good photos of some spiderwebs in the fog, and they’re pretty cool:
Now, I hate spiders, but I do like these photos. The fog and the spider combination seems to make for a nice, creepy Halloween atmosphere.
I’m getting excited!

Our photographers have been busy capturing some beautiful fall scenes in the Valley as the leaves are really turning vibrant colors and shades.
I was traveling through Sullivan County this weekend and the leaves were GORGEOUS there too – but as a safe driver, I have no pictures of that.
So we’ll have to settle for these wonderful shots!

I’m in my first day back at the office and I was greeted by some pretty good reader photos on our website.
It’s a nice refresher for a Monday morning, which also happens to be the Monday after a vacation- womp, womp.
Here’s some of the standouts:

This week has been big for our Facebook community, with numerous posts lighting up the page over the past week.
Here’s a couple that seemed to draw the most response, but be sure to check out the full Facebook page to see what else has been big this week.
The largest thing to draw response this week is a photo. We posted a photo of a car involved in an accident this week, with the victims still as yet unidentified. And that brought about the old debate about what should papers run and not run. Here’s the photo:
I know where I stand on this: News isn’t pretty, and it can be tough, but it’s got to get out there – we deal with that fact every single day. Literally – this was in my afternoon yesterday. As long as there aren’t bodies in the vehicle or a large amount of blood and gore, it’s OK by me for publication. But not everyone agrees, as evidence by our long comment thread. Another big debate continues to swirl around Hartleton Police Chief Donald Zerbe,
who I talked about little while ago. The debate continues with many people still standing by Zerbe: Paul Phillips: “So what? Id rather pat the donation than get the ticket, points, and insurance raised!” Another big debate: The always controversial Gov. Tom Corbett re-affirming his commitment to trying to sell the state lottery.
People are fired up about that.

Yesterday was a bittersweet milestone in my family. My baby sister, 10 years younger than me and my older sister, started her senior year of high school.
She apparently gave my mom a hard time about taking the photo, but then after Facebook became flooded with traditional first-day pics of her classmates, posted by their moms – she calmed down.
My little girl is growing up!
If I could say one thing to her and her schoolmates, it’s: enjoy it. You can’t get it back later. And it’ll go so fast,
Have a great year to all students returning to classes’
This week it’s been cool and less humid in the Valley, and it appears our readers have been out and about taking in the late-summer scenery.
The proof is in the reader gallery online which showcases numerous floral and plant scenes from around the area.

This week’s theme for reader-submitted photos seems to be ladies that are proud of their accomplishments – and rightfully so.
