One thing that’s got everyone in Danville excited is the new mural going up near Mill Street.
It’s being put up right now, with detail work to continue, it looks like.
I can’t wait to see it complete
It’s a history based mural, which I like because Danville does have a rich history.
Here’s a big picture, in two parts:
Now here’s a detail shot of the flowers/person:
Very exciting! I can’t wait to see it done!

I say this every time i post Reader Photos, but I really am so impressed with the photos we receive each week from readers and post in our photo galleries.
This week, the theme seems to be animals and children beating the heat – which luckily has passed us by this week.
This batch also includes my favorite reader photo ever. Check below to see it:
Lewisburg Area high school sweethearts Sarah and Kyle are married on May 18, 2013. In honor of being high school sweethearts the couple rented a school bus and traveled to their high school to get pictures at the school where they met!
Photo by Sarah and Kyle Mumper, Lewisburg
“Bow, a Gordon Setter, takes a swim in Penns Creek on a hot summer day,” by Bruce Ferster, Lewisburg
“Sunrise over Wayne Kauffman’s hayfield,”
by Danita Stoltzfus, Mount Pleasant Mills. Probably my favorite reader photo ever.

This week, Daily Item readers have submitted some amazing scenes for the Daily Item Reader Photos slideshow.
I used to think I had a good eye for photography – now I’m questioning that as we receive some of these amazing shots.
Here’s some of the beautiful landscapes we received this week!

Now that the Prom Perfect contest is over, Daily Item readers have resumed sending in their artistic photos in, depicting life in the Valley in a unique and up-front way.
It’s also almost summertime – which means I’m in the mood to go outside, plant flowers and enjoy the sunshine – though as yesterday’s post reveals, this week hasn’t been the best for that.
Anyway, here’s my favorite recent reader photos, depicting the best of the beginning of sweet summertime:
“China Loves Treats,” by Cindy Hoffman, Richfield
“Crayfish,” by Rita Kurtz, Selinsgrove

This might have to become a weekly feature, since we are getting so many great photos from Daily Item readers through our website.
See the first batch here.
Here’s some more of my favorite recent submissions:

You may have noticed that at
DailyItem.com you can now upload your own photos for our reader slideshow.
Each week, The Scrapbook selects one to feature, and the photos are featured on our homepage.
And these photos are good.
