As you must have figured out by now, I love me some murals.
And yesterday, I got to see the progress on the Warrior Run school mural, which will begin being installed next month.
The cool thing about this mural is its construction, which is through digital and tile work – very cool stuff. And the artist, Warrior Run alum Jon Laidacker, is giving
a behind-the-scenes look on his Facebook page.
One thing that fascinated me was the paint-by-numbers concept he’s using to help students and community members get involved. Here’s a look at what the tiles look like after he traces them from a digital file onto a tile and numbers them by color:
And the scale is amazing.
It’s going to be huge.
Here’s a video look at the eagle, just one-fifth of the mural.
I’ll of course be keeping you updated as this progresses – check back!

This week, Daily Item readers have submitted some amazing scenes for the Daily Item Reader Photos slideshow.
I used to think I had a good eye for photography – now I’m questioning that as we receive some of these amazing shots.
Here’s some of the beautiful landscapes we received this week!

The Daily Item reader-submitted photo gallery is full of some great photos which highlight the fact that we are deep into summer.
From Gettysburg reenactors to weddings to American flags, the dog days of summer are here and here’s what that looks like across the Valley:

As with last week, these pictures show the Valley blooming in springtime.

There’s a definite spring in everyone’s step as spring is in the air!
The temperature has finally crawled above 50 and it’s time to celebrate with some spring-themed photos, courtesy of Daily Item readers.
Here’s my favorite springtime photos from the reader galleries:

I know that I’m no good at art – I took Photography I in college and that was enough to teach me that I didn’t have an artistic bone in my body.
But this week I found myself taking several scenic photos just for fun. They’re from a bunch of places around the Valley – and I wanted to share them with someone.
Feel free to share some critiques with me – but try not to be too harsh.
This was the sunset near my home in Danville yesterday. I wish the power lines weren’t there – but hey, I also like my electricity.
