Images from riding with a motorcycle ride

I’ve covered several motorcycle rides before – but I’ve never ridden with one.

That could be a number of things: A) I don’t ride motorcycles and B) People can’t answer questions when they’re riding.

But Saturday, before heading to Knoebels, I was inadvertently in the middle of the action when my fiance and I ended up driving behind the American Legion Ride for Ashley, which was held to benefit a young woman in Sunbury with Ehlers–Danlos syndrome, “part of a group of inherited connective tissue disorders, caused by a defect in the synthesis of collagen,” Wikipedia says.

Ashley Gay is looking to raise $70,000 for needed surgery and the Post 201 Riders – known for their charity rides – were happy to help Saturday.

It was a great cause, and I was happy to see the great turnout. Here’s my view of the ride:

Bonus Photos: History Day

Fort Augusta in Sunbury hosted a really cool event Saturday.

History Day included a WWII camp, some cool Lincoln memorabilia, and colonial people.

Most of it was hands on, too.

The event was revived after several years of lapsing. I was there for work, but would definitely go back for fun. Anyone interested in history should check it out in coming years.

Here’s some extra photos from the WWII camp:

Would you tour the Northumberland County Prison?

This week, it came up that the public can tour the Northumberland County Prison whenever they want to. After all, tax dollars pay for the prison.

But would you want to tour it, even if you could? We posed the question on our Facebook page:

untitledMy take: I want to tour the prison, I think.

I mean, I think it would be cool to see what the inside of a prison looks like. I haven’t seen one yet and hopefully won’t as an inmate anytime in the future.

But at the same time, prisons are miserable places. They’re designed that way and they should be that way – so why would you want to go into them voluntarily, as Judy points out above?

What do you think – would you tour a prison if you got the chance?

Snow progression

Here’s my attempt at some time lapse phtoography.

It shows the progression of the snow storm outside our office window on Market Street. I took photos beginning at 1 p.m. at about every half hour.

(Note: I had an early photo showing barely there snow, but accidentally deleted it – whoops!)

Anyway, enjoy - and send me your snow photos!

Oh Christmas trees!

Last week, I talked with some Christmas tree growers who said the first weekend in December is the most popular for people to buy their trees. Looks like they were right: social media blew up this weekend with photos of newly decorated trees from around the region. Here’s a few.
